This recipe is from my husband's grandmother and how she got me to eat lima beans.

1. Remove lima beans from the shell
2. Put in pot fill 1/2 water, 1/2 milk.  Add about 1 Tbsp butter or margarine and black pepper.
3. Bring to boil slowly (has a habit off boiling over)
4. Cover and, on low, simmer about 15 minutes until beans are soft but not mushy.  Taste for desired texture.
5. Add salt and pepper if desired.  Enjoy!
